Cornelius lights a tree to kick off the holidays
Mayor Chuck Travis anounded the tree lighting. Wallace Foutch of Cornelius sang “Jingle Bells,” after inviting a girl from the audience to accompany him with bells. The event took place on the lawn behind town hall.

At mid-summer, the Community Garden bears fruit
Volunteers have laid the groundwork, planted and nurtured produce and other plants this summer in the Cornelius Community Garden off Catawba Avenue, in the Smithville neighborhood. Now comes the payoff. Gardeners have been reaping the rewards of all the hard work over the past couple of weeks, from peppers to tomates.

Rain makes way for The Band of Oz
A rainy Sunday morning gave way to sunshine in the afternoon, clearing the way for a big crowd to pack the Village Green for a Concert on the Green featuring the popular Band of Oz. Our photographer Hannah Plank was there to capture the scene. See the gallery below. Meanwhile, another Concert on the Green is coming up this Sunday, June 15, from 6-8pm, featuring The Dickens Band.
